From the Director – May

Boy…thought Spring would never get here.  Our biggest food drive of the year is next Saturday, May 9th.  “Stamp Out Hunger”  will hopefully stock our shelves for a month or so.  We will be busy at the pantry that Saturday from noon until 5pm.  Anyone wishing to help, give the pantry a call at 679-6448 and we’ll pencil you in a time slot.  Don’t forget to fill your bags and put it out for the postal workers in Muskego.

With school winding down we are hopefully going to get a couple more food drives from Muskego area schools.

Summer is the busiest time for feeding families at the pantry.  With school out, nutritious lunches are not the norm.  If any group (church, work, bunko, whatever) wants to have a summer peanut butter & jelly, mac & cheese, or soup drive to make easy lunches for kids at home we would really appreciate the help.

Garden planting time is right around the corner so please keep us in mind when planting and plant a row for the pantry.  There is nothing nicer than being able to give fresh home grown produce to some of our families.  Muskego Elementary has a very nice garden plot planted specifically for the food pantry.  Other schools and community groups can do the same.

As always keep us in mind when you do your grocery shopping and help fill our barrels at Piggly Wiggly, Pick n Save and Walmart.

P.S. Jammin’ on Janesville is Friday June 5th.  We will be by Pick n Save.  Come for fun and food.  Help support your local food pantry!!
