From the Director – February

It’s 8 degrees and it isn’t going to get any warmer today.  Where have I heard that before.  This has been a truly awful winter for everyone in Southeastern Wisconsin.  Especially for those who have to make a decision between paying their heating bill or feeding their family.  All of the generous donations of food during the holidays are gone.  We have been spending over $600 per week to purchase the grocery staples to keep our shelves sort of stocked.  This is not new to us.  This is how it goes after the holidays.  Now we just wait for “Scouting for Hunger” run by the Muskego area Boy Scouts in March and “Stamp out Hunger” run by the Post Office in May.  Like I close every letter…please remember us when you do your grocery shopping and drop some food in the barrels at Pick N Save, Piggly Wiggly, and Wal-Mart.  There is also a Souper Bowl soup drive going on at Bethel Lutheran Church on Janesville Road throughout the month of February.  The barrel is inside the front door if you would like to donate any soup for the pantry.  Thank you for your generosity.

Julie – Director
