From the Director – May

I think we finally made it to Spring…trees are budding and flowers blooming.  Typical for Wisconsin 85 degrees one day and 45 degrees the next.  Our biggest food drive of the year is next Saturday, May 11th.  “Stamp out Hunger” is sponsored by the postal carriers.  All you need to do is fill a bag with your items and your letter carrier will pick it up and deliver it to our food pantry.  Hopefully this drive will keep our shelves stocked for a few weeks until we get in to the summer.  Summer is our busiest time with school children home without getting school hot lunches.  Please keep us in mind when you harvest your gardens and go to the grocery store.  Two weeks ago Bay Lane Middle School “Stuffed the Bus” for our pantry.  They filled 1/2 of a school bus.  The food is already gone.  Muskego Elementary has 12 garden plots in the front of the school that will be planted by the students, tended and harvested by their families.  The produce will be donated to our food pantry.  I’m sure this will be an extremely successful project for all. Until next month.ulie
